I'd like to thank the Academy...

Okay, I really only watched about 5 minutes of the Oscars. Remember when you had actually seen or at least heard of the movies that were up for awards. Anyway, Sara went over to play with her cousins today while I took Blake to the doctor. She and Katie played dress up and Jen helped with their makeup. Thanks to years of dance, the Lotts have tons of fun dress ups. Sara couldn't part with this beautiful dress, so Aunt Jen said that she could wear it home. Unfortunately, now she thinks it is her dress! It is going to be sad when we give it back, but she can wear it whenever we go visit.

Mama's Boys

The other night we were up late playing games at Todd and Michelle's. When we got home Bryan requested to put Blake to bed instead of Sara. Ususally we divide and conquer. I take care of Blake and he takes care of Sara. After I got Sara to bed, I was reading while waiting for Bryan. I went out in the living room to check on him and this is what I found. They were both sound asleep. He loves it when the babies sleep on his chest. What a great dad!

The many faces of Sara

I have been helping my neighbor with her company making headbands. Sara is quite taken by them. So, I bought her a few. I didn't think that she would keep them in her hair, seeing how she is always twirling and playing with her pony tails... a trait inherited from the Washingtons. However, she loved wearing her headband and left it in all day. This is what happened when I asked her to pose for a picture. Gotta love her!

Mexico, here we come!

Yeah, our passports arrived today! We have been planning a trip to Rocky Point with our friends the Christensens, pending the early arrival of our passports. Cody has his Spring Break the second week in March. We will drive to Phoenix, stay a day or two, then go on to Rocky Point where we plan on spending most of our time at the beach. Sara is so excited to go to the beach with her best friend, Ellie. We Washingtons are greatly anticipating a break from all of this snow!

How big is Blake?

Blake has learned "So Big." He is so cute when he does it. His arms raise above his head and his head tilts to the right side. Then he is so pleased with himself, that he starts clapping. Even Sara loves to join in asking, "How big is Blake?"

This morning he was playing the piano when it got quiet. When I looked over he was standing up. This is the first time he has officially pulled himself up to anything.
Watch out world, here he comes!

Happy Valentine's Day

I attempted to take a great picture of my two babes for Valentine's Day. They refused to cooperate. Blake kept trying to crawl away, and Sara would not smile. Do you see where she is spitting at me? We had a fun day. Sara got to deliver her Valentines before lunch and decorate cookies after her nap. Then her cousins and Grandma and Grandpa Bear came over to deliver their Valentines. All in all, it was a fun day with too many sweets.

Smiley Sara

This is what we came home to find. Sara, with the help of her daddy, had stamped smiley faces all over her belly, legs, and cheeks:)

9 Month Check Up

Does this look like a sick boy to you?

He sure doesn't act sick, other than not wanting a bottle. Well, we went in for a routine 9 month visit and discovered that my boy has 2 very infected ears. Someone must have a high tolerance for pain! Blake is growing up fast and out slow. He was 28 3/4 inches, putting him in the 60%, and 16 lb. 12.5 oz., in the 2%. He is one tall, skinny boy.

Sara-isms

Me: "Sara, you picture is so pretty."
Sara: "Thank you , you highness."

"Mommy, look at me. I so cute!"

"Babies poop and cry. Thats the truth."

"Mommy, there somepin wrong with you."

"What's goin' on here guys?"

When she knows she's in trouble, "Mommy, I love you so much. You so cute."

When we lay her down for bed at night, "You can lay with me?"

When she wakes up in the morning the first thing she does is come in our room and announce, "I awake" or "Sara awake."

That's amazin' idea, mom.

That be super-duper fun.

Oopsies!

Cruella come get my puppy

Last Sunday Sara was upset as we were getting in the car to go to church. When I finally understood why she didn't want to go to church I had to laugh. She was afraid Cruella was going to come and steal her puppy. She had never seen 101 Dalmations, only read the book. And our new puppy is a Springer Spaniel, not a Dalmation. Lady is black and white, but apparently all black and white dogs are dalmations in the eyes of this 2 year old. I was able to reassure her that our puppy was fine and that Cruella would not come to get her. I love her logic and reasoning skills.

We have had Lady for about 3 weeks now. Sara has a new best friend. She loves to wrestle, carry, and run away from Lady. The puppy's registered name is Lady Martha Washington. We thought it went well with Sir George Washington. So now we have a George and Martha. Maybe we won't hear any jokes about those names the next time I get pregnant. I doubt it.

Sara be ? Halloween

Halloween made quite the impression on Miss Sara. She loved dressing up. But I think the kicker was that when she knocked on any door and said the magic words, "Trick or Treat," she was rewarded with candy. Ever since she has been informing me of her newest costume idea for next year. She says, "I be __ Ha-ween." I have been keeping a list because it is so funny. So, why not keep it on the blog? It will be fun to see her final decision. Her most recent suggestion, "I be Aladin, Mommy be Abu, and Dada be Jazum."
